A letter from our publisher

As the Texarkana Gazette marks its 150th anniversary this year, we celebrate its enduring role in uniting the community and driving positive change through trusted, impactful journalism. To ensure that Texarkana continues to have a robust and independent local news source for another 150 years, we are launching the Texarkana Gazette Community Journalism Project.

Like many newspapers across the nation, the Gazette has been impacted by the economic challenges of a rapidly changing media landscape. Despite operating at a loss, our family has remained committed to investing in the newspaper, looking for ways to secure its future. We do this because we understand the vital role that local journalism plays in a community; without it, crime increases, government accountability diminishes, and citizens lose access to the critical information they need to make informed decisions.

To ensure the Gazette continues to grow and expand its coverage of the issues that matter most to the community, we are turning to you. Donations from readers and supporters will empower us to deepen our investigative efforts and enhance local reporting, providing the essential news and insights that will help Texarkana thrive.

Our family has been in the newspaper industry for over a hundred years, starting right here in Texarkana in 1909. My hope is that our family continues to serve as stewards of the Gazette for many years to come, but its long-term survival ultimately rests on the support of the community it serves. Together, we can ensure that the Gazette remains a trusted voice for generations to come.
